Barangay San Miguel, an urban barangay, is about 4 kilometers from the city proper. It is bordered by Barangay Mankilam to the north, Barangay Visayan Village to the east, Barangay Canocotan to the south, and Dujali and the Municipality of Carmen to the west. Spanning 699 hectares, its land use includes 500 hectares for residential, 99 hectares for agricultural, 69 hectares for commercial, and 1 hectare for industrial purposes. The barangay has 30 puroks with flat terrain.
The city opened a main road from Laureta Elementary School to Canocotan for buses and PUJs traveling between Davao and Tagum. Flooding is a major issue due to its proximity to the Liboganon River, affecting Puroks 3-D, 5, 5-A, 5-B, 6, 6-A, 7, 8, 8-A, 9, 10, 10-A, 11, 11-A, 12, 13, and 13-A.
